I have never been a huge fan of the “hustle” method for success because then you tend to miss out on the important and crucial moments of life that make life worth living. I have found greater productivity and success when I use the alignment method of daily meditation and focusing on one goal at a time.
We as humans tend to make more progress when we focus on one thing at a time vs trying to hurry and do many things at once. One thing done right is better than many things done half-way.
Here are a few things that can be done in a relaxed setting that can improve the brain functions and increase energy that in return increases productivity.
People who are stressed often have contracted muscles. These muscle contractions give a physiological and an emotional feeling of tenseness and overall unease. When you feel these sensations, try stretching to loosen tight muscles and simultaneously increases blood flow. Stretching has also been known to aid in the release of endorphins, a natural body substance that helps you attain a feeling of joy and serenity. Stretching when you wake up is a great way to start your day and stretching before bed can optimize your sleep.
Most people tend to feel a little lethargic around mid-afternoon. If this describes you, try some stretching at your desk. Often, people who suffer from mid-afternoon fatigue find that stretching gives them a boost of energy. When we feel lethargic, our muscles tighten; stretching loosens up these muscles. Stand up and stretch to combat your midday fatigue!
2. Just Relax!
All work and no play just makes one hell of a frazzled lady boss (or man-boss) whichever it may be!
You won’t hurt you business by taking a little time to go outside, clear your brain, play with a kid or whatever it is that makes you laugh again. Back to the stop and smell the roses theory, Literally tho, Just STOP. Go to bed early, take a little extra time on the morning coffee routine and remember why you wanted to start a business in the first place.
If you are always running you will find yourself worn out and discouraged, ready to throw in the towel on your hopes and dreams, which totally defeats the purpose. So go get the mani-pedi and enjoy a glass of wine at 10:00 if that’s what today calls for. And trust me, you’ll get more done when you get back to it.
3. Read A Book
Like, literally sit down and open a real book! Reading a book might seem mundane or time-wasting for that person who lives on the go. I know for myself I tend to get my books in through audio while traveling or cleaning the house, but the mental benefit of slowing down and relaxing while reading is not only beneficial to your busy business life can also feel almost as good as an afternoon nap.
4. Get Help
We are not meant to be “on” 24-7. Thanks to the awesome social media scheduling tools ect, we don’t have to personify every thing in our business. Look around for ways to hand off some of the things that you may be doing in your biz to a scheduler or to someone who can help you. And that might be hard for the perfectionist who feels like they have to do it themselves for it to get done right, but learning to let other people or resources help you can save so much time and energy you’ll be glad you have.
